According to the information card –
“Perseus and Andromeda: this is the largest version of a subject found many times in the decoration of the Vesuvian cities.
The hero helps the young girl to climb down the rock to which she had been chained.
He holds a sword in his left hand and the recently severed head of the Gorgon.”

Two large panel paintings, Perseus rescuing Andromeda and Medea with her children, occupied the end pilasters directly opposite room 22.
