According to Dyer:
“The peristyle is surrounded on two of its sides with square columns, painted with plants on a red background.
The pillars are connected together by a low wall, which leaves two openings into the xystus, or garden.
On the other sides it is bounded by the tablinum in front, and by an exedra or oecus, on the right (of the peristyle)”.
