VI.12.2 Pompeii. May 2004. Looking south along east portico of rear peristyle.
According to Jashemski, the rear peristyle was enclosed by 43 stuccoed columns.
Below the two middle columns of the south portico there was a marble puteal, and beside it a marble table supported by a winged sphinx with the feet of a dog. Fragments of two statuettes were found in the garden.

VI.12.2 Pompeii.
Pre-1943. Puteal in second (rear) peristyle.
According
to Warscher –
This
puteal was found between the columns of the east portico, it seemed to be a
left-over/residue of the pre-roman house.
(Questo puteale che si trova fra le colonne del
portico orientale sembra essere un residuo della casa pre-romana.)
