The following inscription was read scratched on the wall to the right of the large room near the peristyle:
Quis amat valeat.
Pereat qui nescit amare bis tanto pereat, quisquis amare vetat. [CIL IV 4091]
According to Cooley, this means:
Whoever loves, let him flourish.
Let him perish who knows not love.
Let him perish twice over whoever forbids love.
