Looking south across atrium towards tablinum 11, in centre, and doorway to room 13 leading to baths’ area, on left.
Left of centre is the doorway into the kitchen area, according to Boyce –
“In the kitchen was found a fragmentary painting with the figures of the Lares along remaining.”

VII.1.40 Pompeii but described by Sogliano
above as IV.1.40.
“The small, but interesting private baths
of this house, in homage to the figured mosaic floors and the stucco remnants
that adorned its walls, had the good fortune to be covered with a roof since
the time, in which the diligent study of the monuments had not yet suggested
the way to reintegrate the ruined parts of the walls. But because it was
necessary to rebuild that roof, which was very shabby due to its age, I ordered
that the masonry vaults be rebuilt, following their original course, as clearly
shown by the remains of plaster at the top of the walls.”

A., 1909. Dei lavori eseguiti in Pompei dal 1 Luglio 1908 a tutto Giugno

“The black and white mosaic flooring showed a
flower in the centre, around which were a series of objects for the bath/water
(fish, dolphins, a sandal and a strigil) and birds.”

remains of IV Style decoration, a high purple/violet zoccolo with squares with
painted flowers and carpet borders: the middle of the walls was painted black.
