On the west wall between the recesses was a painted garden scene similar to the one on the east wall (see ADS 470 below).
In this scene, the central figure was stretched out and seen from the rear, in a pose characteristic of a marble Hermaphrodite.
Now in Naples Archaeological Museum. Inventory number ADS 471.

Painting by Giuseppe Abbate, showing painted garden scene between recesses on east side of frigidarium.
In the centre of the painting on this side was an old Silenus, clearly connected to the Hermaphrodite seen in the painted garden on the west wall.
