According to Jashemski, the large dolium 23 in the south-east corner of the garden contained lime.
This would have been used in the restoration work going on at the time of the eruption.
Tatiana Warscher believed that it had originally been used as a planter.

VI.9.2 Pompeii. September 2004. Peristyle garden 17, looking west across small pool 21, pool 18 and fountain 19.
According to Jashemski, the large and elaborate pool had its interior painted blue.
The interior walls were bordered with alternate rectangular and semi-circular recesses.
A column in the centre of the pool supported a round table, from which water jetted and fell into the pool.
There is a small pool 21 with a marble rim at the east end, together with a small basin 20 adjacent to the large pool on the west side.
The small basin may have been used for storing the fish while the pool was cleaned, or perhaps for cooling drinks.
