(The exedra in question, with a rectangular plan and a signinum floor, has a noble decoration of the III Style on the walls (fig.3), it has a decoration consisting of a black plinth divided into panels by simple stripes; in a frieze with a white background with rare architectural perspectives animated by garlands, hanging masks, eagles and griffins with outstretched wings; and in a sober and elegant middle area. This consists, for each wall, of 3 large panels (green in the middle (note our pictures – yellow? in the middle), red in the side panels) surrounded by black bands adorned with yellow friezes, and separated from each other by slender white columns with metallic friezes. In the centre of the middle panels are groups of objects and competitive vases; in the centre of the side panels, pheasants and flying swans.
At the top of the middle area there is a band on which are represented many panels with a black background (4 for each wall), groups of doves pecking, or ducks floating in a pond, (fig. 4, and see fig. 3 on the right): and animals hunting, such as a panther reaching and mauling a deer, a dog about to throw itself onto a rabbit (fig, 3 on the left).
