According to PPM, the floor of the anteroom and alcove was in cocciopesto with pattern made by white and black tesserae.

In the anteroom was a “carpet” pattern of crosses with a black centre, bordered by a row of white and black alternating tesserae, the edge of the recess was a net of diamonds edged by a similar row of alternating black and white tesserae, and the alcove itself was of scattered white tesserae.
