I.6.2 Pompeii. May 2006. Looking north-east across the oecus/triclinium in south-east corner. According to Warscher, the paintings from this room were partially destroyed in the last period of Pompeii. This would have been when the corridor and connecting rooms were transformed into a storehouse or wine cellar. Found on the south wall was a well preserved picture showing a sacrificial table with a basket full of fruit. On the left stood a cock.
The first picture on the north wall showed The Sacred Wedding: the young girl is seated in a two-wheeled cart drawn by two women, led by a dancing Maenad playing the double flute.

I.6.2 Pompeii. North wall of oecus or triclinium. Wall painting of Ariadne being carried in a cart, perhaps for her marriage, led by a female figure playing the double flute. According to Rocco, this original wall painting was similar in both composition and high quality to those in the cryptoporticus itself. On the only surviving fragment of the decoration from the north wall of the room is a pinax with the scene of Ariadne carried on a chariot. See Tiziana Rocco: The House of the Cryptoporticus, in Tales from an eruption, ed. by P. G. Guzzo, Electa 2003 (p.126-129). SAP inventory number 59468.
