According to Kockel, there was a door shown on all the excavation drawings. Today the walls are largely restored, and the door cannot be seen any more.
Also a number of authors refer to this as an ustrinum, but he regards the dimensions as insufficient for such a purpose and it is more likely an unfinished grave from the last days of Pompeii.
