HGE03 Pompeii. Detail from plan by Francesco La Vega.
HGE03 is in the top left, parallel to the Via dei Sepolcri, with thick walls and door at the rear, but is unnumbered.
HGE02 is behind it, with thinner walls but is at a different angle, parallel to the Via Pomeriale and with numbers.
The Herculaneum Gate is to the right and tombs HGW01-04 at the bottom.
According to Kockel, the find reports do not mention the grave HGE03, but. F. La Vega drew it on his plan in PAH 1, Tav III.
La Vega shows a door at the rear behind HGE02, which Kockel regards as highly improbable for this type of tomb.
The grave would probably have been excavated at the same time as HGE02 in September 1763.
