According to Eschebach, -
“Open tablinum with exedra onto the garden (therein a puteal and dog-kennel, in the south-west corner.”
Today, there is no sign of a dog-kennel.

“A small masonry doghouse in the south-west corner of the tablinum in a house on the Via di Nola (IX.5.2) was obviously for a small dog”.
