According to De Caro, in the space in front of the temple an ancient well cut into the lava was made monumental with a very elegant circular aedicula whose eight Doric columns probably supported a conical roof. The architrave bore an Oscan inscription:
NI(UMSIS) TREBIIS TR(EBIEIS), MED(DISS) TUV(TIKS) AAMANAFFED,
See De Caro S., in Dobbins, J. J. and Foss, P. W., 2008. The World of Pompeii. Oxford: Routledge, p. 78.
According to Cooley this translates as
Numerius Trebius, son of Trebius, chief magistrate, saw to this being built.
