VIII.7.12 Pompeii. Shop with dwelling house.

Excavated 1795, 1874, 1906 and 2005 to 2010.

 

The Pompeii Archaeological Research Project: Porta Stabia (PARP:PS) has been excavating VIII.7.1 to 15 since 2005.

These included a tank, a waste chute, a drain and doorstops that were located in the centre of the room away from the current threshold.

According to Mau, this is one of the two small rooms, but no mention of a kitchen area.

According to PARP:PS – there was a hearth/cooking facilities (no.6 on their plan) against the north wall in the rear area.

According to Mau, this is one of the two small rooms, but no mention of a kitchen area.

According to Mau –
“on the right (of the corridor) was a spacious triclinium, with two doors, one onto the corridor, one onto the locality at the end of it, which seems to have been a garden and at the end of which stands the wide entrance of a room not yet excavated, in the middle of which stands a brick column.”
