VIII.4.7 Pompeii. Shop and backroom, with VIII.4.9 in background.  May 2005.  For graffiti found on pilaster on right of doorway, see VIII.4.6. 
This included the one painted in red greek lettering, which was removed to the Naples Archaeological Museum.   Inventory number 4717. (Ruesch 1206).  This showed the shop’s owner to be under the protection of Hercules. [CIL IV 733]  Varone and Stefani include a photograph of the greek graffito.  See Varone, A. and Stefani, G., 2009. Pappalardo shows the actual Fiorelli writings in greek.

Greek text in red letters, according to the Naples Museum information card this translates as:

According to Della Corte, the two shops at VIII.4.8 and VIII.4.7 were under the ownership of one (Ianu)arius and another called Severus. He reached this conclusion because the two electoral recommendations were written one near the other on the dividing pilaster of the two shops:
Severus  rog(at)    [CIL IV 735]
and
[CIL IV 737] above, where he interpreted (…)ario as (Ianu)ario.
