The 3 different levels of the house can be seen and the city walls.
This shows the house was built over the city walls which were no longer needed.
This part of Pompeii was the location of several houses of wealthy people.
Like the House of Umbricius Scaurus, a number of the houses here had several floor levels and views of the sea.

This photo shows the three levels of the house. At the very top is the peristyle area 18.
Room 30, corridor 40 and rooms 22/23 are in the middle level. Vaulted room 38 is on the bottom left of the photo, covered by greenery.

Room 33 can be seen unroofed on the left, followed by roofed rooms 32, 31 and 30. The doorway to corridor 40 can be seen on the right.
Immediately above the lower plastic roof two vaulted rooms 37 and 38, can be seen. They were not able to be photographed.

Immediately above the plastic roof two rooms, 37 and 38, with vaulted ceilings, can be seen. They were not able to be photographed.
