On the north side (left) was an open corridor onto the garden through a portico supported by a single column decorated with scales.

According to Boyce, the inside walls of the niche were painted green and blue and the ceiling was a shell of stucco.
The wall around the niche was painted with a garden decoration of plants, flowers and birds.

Breton said that there were five bronze Penates discovered here, but these were not mentioned elsewhere.
