V.4.a Pompeii. May 2006. Kitchen area, looking north. According to Boyce, on the west wall of the kitchen entered from the north-west corner of the peristyle, was a fragmentary Lararium painting. One figure of a Lar was preserved, as well as the Genius pouring a libation, a Camillus, and below one red and yellow serpent advancing to the right. A second and smaller picture had been subsequently painted over the top of that one, but only one Lar remained of that one too. On the south wall, to the left of the entrance, was painted a ham.
