On the north side of the table, at the centre of the base was a strange, slightly mounded piece of cement topped by a marble disc, both of which were partly under the table, suggesting that it might possibly have served as a statue base. It is possible that the table may have been an altar, and the four post holes those of a baldacchino (canopy), but the structure was too damaged to know if it was used as an altar or a table.”

To the west of the triclinium was a nursery plot with low masonry walls on the east and south, which was filled with an unusual black soil.
