According
to PPM –
“The
triclinium had flooring of cocciopesto, the entrance area was marked with a
“carpet” of scattered tiles enclosing a tablet with an inscription.
The
place of the table between the couches was indicated with a circular “carpet”
of tesserae.
The
place of the couches on the flooring was without decoration
The
tablet set into the cocciopesto flooring near the entrance read ANCVS in black
and white stones, very worn out by the passage of feet over time.
It
was the name of a family from Praeneste, (modern day Palestrina), a
representative of whom could have been among the first colonizers of
Pompeii.”

I.12.5 Pompeii. December 2007. Looking south through corridor to rear rooms and garden.
According to Jashemski, this property appeared to have had an open area, which may have been planted.
This would have been to the rear of the living quarters.
