According to Della Corte, 4 graffiti were found on the east wall of the large salon written at the height of man above the painted red/cinnamon on the extreme south –

Idibus Martia(s!) / in sumptum sumpsi [CIL IV 8013]
It seems to be the date of a contracted debt (sumpsi) to cope with some expenditure (in sumptum).

On the same wall, but at the top of the zoccolo, under the representation of the two large elephants, was a graffito that Della Corte reproduced in facsimile –

Venustus is fu[3]in[3] Vibrio(?) l<e=I>one(?)[3] [CIL IV 8017]
The name Venustus, at the beginning of the inscription is fairly clear, whereas the rest was rather dubious.

I.6.4 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 12, on the left (east side) is the doorway into room 11.
Ahead is the south wall of room 12, at the rear of this is the small cubiculum with a mosaic floor.
The small cubiculum has not been photographed.
According to Kuivalainen in an alcove in the east wall of the small cubiculum, he describes –
“A composition of two figures painted with white on a red background. On the left, a half reclining robed female figure with her head inclining towards her right shoulder. The youth on the right side advances energetically, stepping with his left leg over the female’s legs, with a pedum in his left hand.”
Kuivalainen comments –
“Bacchus, with a pedum in hand, approaching a sleeping Ariadne would be a rare subject. ……………………….”
